Mar 11, 2019

LONG ISLAND – NYCB LIVE and the Uniondale Show Choir, “Rhythm of the Knight” have collaborated to create an original mashup video of New Kids on the Block hits to celebrate their ‘Mixtape’ tour coming to NYCB LIVE on June 30. The video was originally filmed on January 16 at NYCB LIVE and made its official debut at the venue on March 5 during the Islanders home game. Members of the choir were present for the premiere of their video which features an original composition of New Kids on the Block songs and choreography by the group’s director, Lynette Carr-Hicks. Their original mashup features 28 choir members performing two New Kids on the Block hits, Hangin’ Tough and The Right Stuff.  The mashup can be viewed here.

“Rhythm of the Knight” has a longstanding history of providing entertainment at NYCB LIVE. In fact, the choir was one of the first acts to perform at the newly renovated arena during a ribbon cutting ceremony preceding the grand re-opening on March 30, 2017. Since then, the choir even performed alongside Barry Manilow at the venue three different times in 2017 on May 25, September 14 and December 7. The group also had an in-game performance during a Long Island Nets game on December 23, 2017.

Coming hot off their 30th anniversary of their breakout album, Hangin’ Tough, the New Kids on the Block announced their Mixtape Tour will be making their stop at NYCB LIVE on June 30 and will be bringing with them special guests Salt n Pepa, Tiffany, Debbie Gibson and Naughty by Nature. This is the second time NKOTB will be performing at the venue since the $180 million renovation in April 2017.

The Rhythm of the Knight choir was founded in 2010 and is currently in their 7th year competing on a national level. They are currently 2018 Grand Champions of the Fame Show Choir National Championship Series. They won 2019 Grand Champion in New York and 2018 Grand Champion at the Show Choir of America in Orlando, Florida. The choir has been featured on NBC Today Show, CNN, Fox 5 and Friends, and Good Day NY to name a few.
